Okay you have a nice website up and running, now you want to make some money with it. I recommend putting your sponsor ads in a prominent place on your website so that your visitors will see them clearly, and therefore they have a greater chance of clicking on them. You could try to place your ads in different areas of your webpage to see which placement works best for you. In general, I like to place ads on the top left hand side of the screen and the middle on top and make it blend in the the rest of my contents.
There are all kinds of sponsors out there that you can use for your site but before choosing a sponsor that you are not really familiar with, I strongly recommend reading everything clearly so that you understand their criteria and you should ask around with other webmasters to find out if they are reliable and most importantly if they pay because the reality is that there are alot of internet scams that you may not be aware of.
I like to stick with the big companies such as Google because they are more established and have a very good reputation with website developers. They have a sophisticated pay-per-click program called "Google Adense" and basically what it does is place relevant ads on your page and when surfers click on it, Google will pay you a percentage of their advertisers cost.
Google isn't just a search engine, they are also a sponsor and many webmasters are making thousands of dollars per month from them so if you haven't heard of Google Adsense then you've been missing out.
